Today we are excited for you to meet Angela, owner of Poppy & Clover Floral Design!

Poppy & Clover Floral Design strives to provide a custom design for each client, so I’m constantly looking for inspiration in new places. I’d have to say that my all-time favorite source of inspiration is nature itself. I love to use berries, branches, unusual foliage and succulents whenever possible and I adore nothing more than a loosely gathered, organic bouquet that looks as if it’s been picked from a field of wildflowers. Le sigh.

One of my other current obsessions is vintage vessels. I find some of the best flower vessels from antique shops and thrift stores, such as The Good Juju, Blackwell’s Thrift Store and River Market Antiques. At the moment some of my favorite collectibles are milk glass, vintage metals, wooden berry crates and cheese boxes. I’m a firm believer that every element of a centerpiece design should speak to a bride’s overall vision for her wedding day, so great vessels are a must in my book. These beauties often inspire an entire design concept and are some of the most treasured pieces of my inventory!

Another excellent source of inspiration is the farmers market. Here you can find the freshest locally-grown flowers and other (edible!) items to incorporate into an arrangement. Step outside of the box, I say! Every great design has at least one unexpected element; I’ve been known to use pumpkin vine, bok choy flower, kale, basil and even green beans in some of my bouquets and am always looking for fresh new items to incorporate in my arrangements!

I’m also always on the look out for interesting color combinations, which are great inspiration for new designs. Peach and mint, coral and navy, teal and eggplant…all winners in my book! A great place to find color inspiration is in your local craft store. I visit mine at least once a season to check out new fabric and paper patterns. This is actually a great way to decide if you like a particular color combo you’ve been considering… just find a fabric or paper design that contains all of your colors and see if you like the composition. Color is color, so if you like the combo on paper, then you’ll most definitely love it in your centerpieces as well!

Well, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading a little about what inspires me and I look forward to meeting you at the Inspire Me Event on February 7th! Click HERE for more details and to pre-register!
