It's
All the
Little moments that we
Love
the most.

We are Melissa and Beth... or Beth and Melissa.

Call us by either name, and we'll both answer! No we are not sisters, but since we get asked so often, our answer is sometimes simply a YES! We are small town girls with big dreams, living life to the fullest by doing what we love. After shooting on our own for several years, and then helping each other out with a few wedding gigs, we quickly found that working together was something we were meant to do. In 2011 we officially became M&B when we took a little (and by little we mean huge!) leap of faith opening up our first studio space. In 2014 our dynamic duo became a trio when we talked a talented new photographer named Mariah into joining us in chasing our dreams, and she has been the best addition we could have ever asked for. Since then we've shot hundreds of weddings, sampled many cakes, and have been blessed to work with the BEST clients!

First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes… Melissa photographing your babies!

Meet Melissa… lover of wedding cake, newborns, and power tools. She’s married to Ernie, and she is the coolest mom to Gus, Lucy, and Finley. She also has the most beautiful dog, Coco, a 100 pound Mastiff mix, and lots of cows. You can usually find her in the studio photographing babies and snacking on sweet tarts while editing. She has an overflowing patience that allows her to create the most beautiful images of newborns. We call her as “the baby whisperer.” While she has shifted her main focus to newborn and family photography, she will always be referred to as the one who started it all! She is the very definition of a goal crusher and a go-getter. Before we were M&B, Melissa is the one who reached out to Beth about teaming up to shoot a wedding together. Not long after that, Melissa found a local restaurant that would soon be closing and had the vision to turn it into the perfect studio space. Beth literally thought she was crazy when Melissa said, let’s do this! She is the reason we quit our day jobs and went for it. She is the hardest worker you will ever meet, and her determination inspires others. We would not be where we are today with her! So while you won’t see her in the wedding scene as often as you used to, you can count on finding her at the studio restocking her candy stash, posting photos of sweet sleeping babies, or out back with her tools building her next mini session set.

I’m not cyring, you’re crying!

Meet Beth… caffeine addict, dog lover, editor extraordinaire. She is married to Jason and has three littles who aren’t so little anymore, Cale, Alden, and Dorothy June. She has the sweetest dog you’ll ever meet, Riley, who claims her spot as the oldest child. Before Melissa talked her into making the leap into full time entrepreneurship, Beth worked as a Case Manager for Big Brothers Big Sisters. When it comes to weddings she feels all the feelings. Her love for weddings runs deep, and she wears it on her sleeve. On a wedding day it’s very likely that the only time you’ll see her without a smile on her face is during those emotional moments when she’s crying along with you. Whether it’s the bride stepping in front of the mirror after she slips her dress on, the look on the groom’s face during a First Look, or a heartfelt speech at the reception, Beth’s heart is fully invested and that means there are probably tears rolling behind that camera. She is also the editing guru of the group and handles all of the post-processing. That means you can find her behind the computer reliving all of those wedding day emotions all over again. The best part of this is when you can catch her sitting all alone at the studio smiling to herself as she edits away. So while your wedding day is one of the most important days of your lives, remember, it’s one of the most important days for Beth too.

“Ohh, I wanna dance with somebody!”… Nope that’s not Whitney Houston singing behind that camera, it’s Mariah!

Meet Mariah… also known as coffee queen, dog mom, plant lady. She is the mama to two very spoiled fur babies, Luna and Margot. She loves her rescue pups with all her heart, and she could never have too many cute coffee mugs or house plants. In 2014, when she was fresh out of school, she completed an internship with Melissa & Beth, and quickly became an integral part of the team. After several years of second shooting and working as an associate photographer, her undeniable talent and creative eye moved her into a lead position. During the week, you can find Mariah painting or drawing with elementary students at the Lawrence Arts Center, where she teaches Visual Arts for their STEAM program, and serves as the Youth Education Coordinator. Most Saturdays you can find her dressed in all black, leading brides and grooms through their big day as she captures ALL the details. She is creative down to her core. Her eye for capturing things in a way no one else can imagine is an art that cannot be taught. She has a sense of calmness that is refreshing on busy wedding days. Keeping to the schedule while making sure everyone is still having a great time is her specialty. At every reception you can always count on her making late night visits to the cake table and coffee bar, and serenading you when Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” comes on. She is always looking for new opportunities to learn and grow in all aspects of her life, pushing to be the best version of herself, especially her photography, and it shows in the incredible service that she provides to our clients.
