La Joie Event Space

How many people? We can accommodate up to 325 people with ample room for a dance floor.
Caterers? We have a preferred list, only because we want our clients to have a great experience, but you may bring in any caterer that you wish as long as they have the required licensing and insurance and we do not penalize you for doing so.
Liquor? Our facility allows you to bring your own alcohol services as long as a professional bartender is hired. We also require some insurance to be purchased before the event to cover any liabilities. You can sometimes get your homeowner’s insurance to cover you or you can find an online event insurance company that will provide the insurance you will need as well.
Tables and Chairs? We have 300 banquet style chairs, banquet serving tables and round tables that are provided and set up for the event.
Linens? Decor? We provide house linens for the tables but require our clients to rent their linen napkins through their caterer. We do not offer table decor, but the room is fully decorated.
How late can we stay? Last call at our facility is 11:00 PM so typically events are ended by 12:00PM but if you would like to party on after the bar has closed, we allow you to stay until 1:00 AM.
Can it be set up the day before? Only if the day before is not booked, our clients may come during our normal business hours.
What makes this space unique? We have a really great location close to 69 and 435, so it’s easy for your guests to get to as well as being close to 4 hotels that offer shuttle service from our facility. Not only is the location great but it’s one of the largest in south Johnson County.
We have the ability to accommodate large groups and the flexibility of your catering and bar services really make our event space a great location for your wedding. As the event manager, I have 10 years of experience in event planning and design prior to managing this space, so we really can help you through the process of planning your event at La Joie. We were brand new in 2011 so you can expect a clean and updated facility as well as a safe environment for you guests to mingle and have a fun evening.
What advice do you have for a bride when looking to book a space? It’s really important to read reviews and ask other professionals what they think of the space. The event industry may seem huge but word travels fast through professionals and someone that doesn’t have a horse in the race, so to speak, can really let you know how that particular event space is viewed from their peers. Past clientele can give you some information, but I like professionals in the industry to give me insight since there is more to opening a door and turning on the lights when it comes to event space rentals. You really want to know if the person running the facility is knowledgeable in all aspects of events.
What is your best wedding day/ wedding planning/ wedding booking tip? Start as soon as you can and do one task at a time. If you could spend one week meeting with potential vendors in one category your event will be secured rather quickly. Set deadlines and make sure you stick to them. Another thing that I have found during my time in planning is brides tend to allow their families to make decisions for them and that becomes very stressful. If you must have everyone’s opinion, let them know ahead of time, “I value your input and I will consider everyone’s advice, but ultimately it’s my and my fiance’s final decision.” It will allow you to create a day that is truly reflective of you and your relationship. It’s amazing when I see families coming together to make it special, but it’s not so fun when people are feuding. Don’t lose sight of what this day is really about, it’s not about the photographer or the flowers or showing up your cousin Suzie, it’s about two people that fell in love and are coming together to commit their lives together and want to share it with loved ones that will support their relationship.
