Katie & Justin: Engaged!

Okay, before we even get to the photos, we cannot tell you how excited we are for Katie and Justin’s wedding! These two are so fun!! Also, I’m pretty sure the story of how they met is right there at the top of our favorites list!! In an effort to tell the story properly, here is their version from The Knot…

“In August 2004, Katie had just finished fall formal recruitment and pledged to join Alpha Gamma Delta. At the week’s end she was wanting to see a friend from high school that she was not able to see during the busy week. Katie grabbed a dorm mate and ventured over to Oliver Hall. It was a beautiful day and the men on the ground floor thought it would be a good idea to head outside, this group of guys included Justin. Katie sat with her high school friend and her dorm mate; while Justin and the others started to throw a football around. After many โ€œPayton Manning passesโ€ Justin threw the ball right into the back of Katie’s head. Shocked and in disbelief that this actually happened Katie grabbed her head and started laughing. Justin ran over apologizing to the girl he made โ€œcryโ€. Over the next three years Katie and Justin always kept in contact by meeting on campus for lunch at the Union, grabbing donuts or walking to some classes together. It was not until the summer of 2007 Katie and Justin went on their first official date to the Royals games on July 4th. “

Is that not the best story?! Love it! We of course brought a football along to the engagement session to surprise Katie and Justin. If it hadn’t been for that football, or maybe Justin’s bad aim (just kidding, Justin!), these two may never have met and formed their friendship that has led them to where they are now. To start the session, we met in the Crossroads District and worked our way around downtown, finishing up at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art and the Country Club Plaza.

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes peek for you! If you follow us here on our blog or on Facebook, you’ve probably noticed that we love telling making our couples lay down in the grass. (And yes, even a select number of awesome brides have agreed to doing this in their wedding dress as well!) I (Beth) am usually the one to shoot this pose, and Melissa has an obsession with capturing behind-the-scenes photos of me in my finest of shooting poses!
