Elegant Winter Wedding at Hotel Kansas City | Grayson & Max

Grayson and Max’s wedding at Hotel Kansas City was the perfect way to wrap up our 2025 wedding season—and honestly, I can’t imagine a sweeter note to end on.

Leading up to their December wedding weekend, Kansas City had us completely fooled. We were soaking up unseasonably warm, almost-summer-like temperatures and sunshine, fully convinced winter had decided to take a year off. And then… wedding day arrived. The temperatures dropped fast, the wind came in strong, and just when we least expected it, snow started falling. A true Midwest plot twist. ❄️

Grayson, however, was thrilled. So naturally, we braved the icy wind and headed out to the rooftop balcony for portraits, snowflakes swirling around downtown KC below us. It was cold, yes—but it was also magical. One of those moments that feels spontaneous and unforgettable, and exactly the kind of memory you hope a wedding day gives you.

From start to finish, the day felt incredibly elegant and timeless. Grayson and Max are deeply loved people, and you feel that immediately when you’re around them. They’re incredibly close with their families and friends, and the entire day was filled with meaningful, emotional moments—tight hugs, teary smiles, and happy tears that caught me off guard more than once while editing their gallery. Grayson has the biggest heart and loves so openly, and it’s so evident how cherished both she and Max are by everyone in their lives.

The ceremony took place in the Starlight Ballroom at dusk, softly candlelit and beautifully understated. It was intimate without feeling formal, romantic without trying too hard. Grayson and Max were completely focused on one another, and the space did exactly what it was meant to do—fade into the background and let the moment speak for itself.

Downstairs, the celebration continued in the Tudor Ballroom, a space that somehow manages to feel both grand and familiar at the same time. The toasts were thoughtful and genuine, with Grayson’s dad sharing meaningful words and both Grayson and Max taking a moment to acknowledge their parents—no theatrics, just a lot of heart. It was one of those receptions where everything felt intentional, from the pacing of the night to the people filling the room.

And then… the party officially began.

Lost Wax took the stage and, as always, absolutely delivered. They have a way of turning a reception into a full-blown celebration, and this night was no exception. One of the highlights? The ring bearer hopping on stage and confidently taking charge like he’d been waiting for his moment all night—iconic. And just when guests thought the night couldn’t get any better, Max surprised everyone by joining the band on stage and playing the drums. The room went wild. It was fun, unexpected, and such a perfect reflection of who they are.

This day was equal parts sweet, emotional, elegant, and FUN—and I feel so lucky I got to witness it all through my camera lens. It truly never gets old being invited into these moments, freezing them in time, and telling stories that couples can come back to again and again. My hope is that years from now, Grayson and Max will look through their photos and feel every single emotion all over again—the love, the joy, the laughter, the snowflakes in the wind.

Grayson and Max, thank you for trusting me with your story and for ending my 2025 wedding season in the most meaningful way. What a joy it was to celebrate you.

XOXO

Beth
