Hello Bride!

A Wedding Planning Workshop by Barn Door Events

This past weekend we had the honor of being a part of Hello Bride, a wedding planning workshop put on by the fabulous ladies at Barn Door Events! The workshop took place at Something White Bridal Boutique in downtown Kansas City, a really cool place to visit if you are still looking for your wedding dress or bridesmaids dresses. The workshop was a small group setting, offering each of the ten brides in attendance an opportunity to really get to know the vendors, learn about all the inside tips for their big day, and ask as many questions as they’d like.

As vendors, we didn’t offer a sales pitch to the brides, but instead offered up loads of information and advice on planning different parts of their day. Jennifer and Cindy, the wedding planners at Barn Door Events covered all the basics of planning the wedding day from day-of scheduling to fun DIY projects (aka DYI projects… a little inside joke for those of us who were there, hehe!) to the dreaded budget and guest list. Carolyn from Ultrapom Event Rental brought her gold sequin table covers (we are slightly obsessed with them!) and talked to the girls all about event rentals and what it really looks like to set up your wedding decor yourself versus to have someone do it for you. Emily from Emmy-Ray Design Studio and The Bloom Academy brought a load of grocery store flowers (yep, straight from Costco!) and demonstrated how to build your own bouquet. Watching her take these flowers and transform them into a beautiful bouquet in about twenty minutes… so amazing! Brittany, owner of Something White Bridal Boutique gave us the full scoop on wedding gowns, from dress lingo to finding the right dress to fit your body shape, and tips on navigating the exciting but overwhelming experience of saying yes to the dress! We’ll admit, sitting in the shop amongst all those gorgeous gowns all day was a bit distracting. We may have been picking out which ones we’d like to try on instead of giving everyone our full attention at times! Then there was DJ Johnny Quest from Your DJ KC who added a little life to the party. He gave us a little demo on how he likes to run the party with his turntables. He’s got a fun setup, and this guy really knows how to throw a party! Yours truly here spoke to the brides about our tips for looking your best in your photos. We got everyone on their feet and practiced our techniques. And last but certainly not least, we mustn’t forget to mention Shining Stars Catering who provided us with a delicious lunch, savory appetizers and pomegranate martinis to finish out the day as the girls were sent home with swag bags and their very own custom wedding planning book!

Be sure to check out all of these great wedding professionals and give them a shout if you’re planning your big day!!
