M&B ~ Meet The Vendors ~ The Oread {Kansas City Wedding Photographer}
The Oread
Lawrence, Kansas
How many people does the space accommodate?
We have two ballrooms at The Oread, as well as several smaller spaces for more intimate events. Much like
the Eldridge, the number of people that our spaces accommodate really just depends on the room that each
client chooses as well as other items that we need to make space for (example: buffet, band, etc.).
For a plated dinner in our Hancock Ballroom, we can seat close to 240 guests. This number does go down if
space for a band, dance floor, or buffet is needed in the room.
The Hancock Ballroom is adjacent to our All Season’s Den which can be used for additional seating or as
space for the buffet to be set up in order to accommodate more guests in the ballroom.
Our Griffith Ballroom can seat approximately 270 guests, however again this number does go down depending
on what else is needed in the room.
Do you cater or do you allow other caterers in?
We do not allow outside catering with the exception of wedding cakes.
Liquor: can people bring in their own?
No alcoholic beverages except for bottled wine or champagne can be brought in by clients. We apply a $15
corking fee per bottle of wine or champagne opened and will honor this rate up to a 1.5L bottle of wine or
champagne.
Do you provide tables and chairs?
Yes we do provide tables and chairs.
Linens? Decor? (are they provided or offered)
There is a flat $50 linen fee for using our standard linens (tablecloths, cloth napkins, etc.). We don’t really
have much in terms of décor in house as most of our weddings have florists who do centerpieces, etc.
How late do you allow wedding receptions to stay?
The space rental is a 4 hour reception block of time, however additional time may be added for a nominal fee.
Can it be set up the day before?
Unfortunately we are not able to guarantee access to the space the day before. This is dependent on our
event schedule and other previously booked events, as well as the schedule of our setup crew.
What makes this space unique?
The Oread is perched atop Mount Oread at the north gate of the KU campus and offers extensive views of
campus and Lawrence. The building is beautifully constructed of native limestone and is the perfect
combination of the traditional architecture of the historic campus and the contemporary elegance of our
spacious public and private areas.
The building compliments almost any event theme and provides a beautiful backdrop that allows the event
décor to take center stage.
Why make the Oread your number one choice?
We truly are a full service facility and our goal is to help our brides, grooms, and families take care of all of the
small details so they can truly enjoy their big day. We work very closely with all of our clients to find the best
room setup, menus, and timeline for the event among many other things.
