To pull off a truly stylish wedding, you don’t need an endless budget or designer gown,
but you do need to make sure each element of your event tells a cohesive story.
Choose the “feel” you want for your big day and make each selection based on that. Are
you going for a romantic fairytale, glamorous soiree or relaxed garden party? No matter
the mood, consider each detail as part of the larger whole, and keep in mind how your
photos will tell the story long after you say “I do.” Here’s what I recommend:

1. Pick your mood

This couple has chosen a garden cocktail party for their wedding. They got the look by
hosting outdoors and choosing a classic palette of black, cream, champagne and rose.

2. Pick your dress

Make sure your dress fits your personality, the personality of your event, and (above all) is a good fit on your body. Like all your clothing, it should flatter your best features!Consult a Stylist or bring along your most stylish pal for an honest opinion.

3. Pick your Bridesmaid Dresses

When choosing bridesmaid dresses, give the girls a break, and pick a style that is universally flattering. V-necks, empire waists and skirts to the knee should do it. Keep in mind that not every body-type can carry-off a strapless neckline, so if you do decide to go for this style, let your bustier pals have straps added by a tailor. Or, copy this bride and forgo the uniform. Give your maids a color and let them pick what’s right for them.

4. Accent with Props

Pick a prop or two to use in photos. Umbrellas, giant balloons or staged furniture will make great visual additions to your event, and breathe life into your photos.

5. Weave your details through

Work with your florist or event planner to choose a few key places to weave in your theme. Good places for personal touches include: the entry to the event, aisle, alter, bouquet, welcome table, backs of chairs and dessert table.
