Wedding bliss is the most wonderful kind of happiness! At least that is what we think here at Bridal Extraordinaire, Kansas City’s finest bridal salon. We carry approximately nineteen wedding gown designers enabling us to have over seven hundred wedding gowns in stock to try on, as well as a full bridesmaid and tuxedo department, and the most fabulous accessories in town (so we’ve been told)! We know that in the midst of all the excitement of being engaged and embarking on the journey of planning your big day, it can all feel a bit overwhelming; especially, when it comes to finding your dream dress. Here are five tips that we hope can help that process!
1. Come in with an open mind. Around 90% of brides purchase a gown they never thought the would buy! So the rule of thumb is this- try it on. We know you’ll be surprised at what you fall in love with!
2. Focus on what silhouette looks good on your body. A timeless natural waist ball gown? A sexy fit and flair mermaid look? Shape is the most important part of the gown! It’s what makes you feel good about your body and displays your best features. Side note: We love curves! Don’t be afraid to go for a fitted gown if you’ve got them.
3. Don’t bring everyone you know to your appointment! Having the support of possibly a mother, grandmother, sister, or close friend is usually a safe bet. More then three people can tend to bring to many opinions and make you feel overwhelmed and stressed.
4. It is ok to fall in love with the first dress you put on. The first time you see yourself in a wedding gown is very special and it can make a big impression on you. Your bridal consultant will be listening to you and hearing how you want to look and feel on the big day. She will go to her greatest length to pull a gown that fits your venue, theme, shape, and overall desire.
5. Every bride is different and every reaction is unique when you find your dress. You might not be a cryer or have that “wow” moment where the whole room lights up and everyone has their breath taken away (though we love it when that happens!). If you are happy, feel amazing, and don’t want to take it off then it is a good indicator that you’ve found your dream dress. 🙂
