Dark Horse Distillery

What a fabulous surprise DHD is.  I had seen a few pictures of the space on FB…but really had no idea of what I was walking into.  THE SPACE IS AMAZING.  I am pretty sure DHD is why we/I decided we should do a Favorites week.  The space is like nothing else I have seen.  The best way to describe it would be Richly Inviting I think.  The furnishings are rich and comfy and inviting.  Guests would feel like they have been invited to your gorgeously decorated home.  For a wedding reception there wouldn’t have to be much extra expense (if any) at all for decorations…the space is beautiful all on its own.  It is also such a unique place that would evoke conversations about the distillery behind the glass…the interesting artwork and and and…I LOVE THIS PLACE!!  Another part that really drew me in…the business is Family owned.  I come from a long line of family owned businesses…and I think they are the best of course!

So…here is… Dark Horse Distillery

How many people?
Up to 350 guests

Caterers?  (can you bring in your own)
We have a list of preferred caterers, but if you choose to deviate from that there’s just a $250 kitchen fee and your caterer will need to do a walk through with me prior to the event.

liquor?  (can you bring your own)
You can’t bring in your own alcohol, but included in the rental fee is an endless bar package that include a variety of wine, liquor and beer that can be customized with our preferred bartending company.

Tables and Chairs?  (are they provided)
Yes, tables and chairs are provided. We have 176 upholstered chairs, 22 tables and a variety of soft seating options that include couches and wingback chairs that can be dispersed throughout the room.

Linens?  Decor?  (are they provided or offered)
A choice of black or white linens is included in the rental. We really feel that the décor of the distillery is unique and beautiful on its own, so decorating wouldn’t be a hard fete in our venue.

How late can we stay?
Until midnight, but an extra hour of event time can be purchased to extend the event to one.

Can it be set up the day before?
Prior to the event, the client and I will sit down and create a layout of the tables and chairs, so that I can set up the space exactly how the bride wants. The only things they’ll need to worry about are florals and any extra decorations, which can be set up the morning or afternoon of the event.

What is the most unique wedding you have seen in your space?
We haven’t had any weddings just yet. The event space was just completed at the end of December 2011—but we have a few weddings booked and ready to go for the end of summer and early fall.

What makes this space unique?
Having the distillery as a backdrop for your event is pretty unique in my opinion!

What advice do you have for a bride when looking to book a space?
Choose a space that you feel will not only exude the look of your wedding, but also your personality and the personality of the groom. Our goal with the creation of the event space was to create a space that felt intimate and home-like, rather than sterile and common.

What is your best wedding day/ wedding planning/ wedding booking tip?
Book your space in advance! It’s crazy how many inquiries I receive for one specific Saturday that everyone wants.
